Our Story
The Royal Guards began with a group of kids who simply loved the game and parents who were willing to commit to the journey. What started as optional practices filled with simple workouts and basketball drills gradually grew into something more — a program shaped by consistency, effort, and team-first habits. Over time, more families joined, not because trophies were promised, but because the environment felt right.
While there's no shortage of basketball talent in San Antonio, we experienced a gap that could not be ignored: elementary-aged players were often underserved during some of their most formative years. These are the years when habits are built, discipline is learned, and confidence begins to take shape. We believe young athletes deserve more attention, more intention, and a stronger foundation from the very beginning.
So we built the program we wished existed: one that develops players the right way, values families, and creates an environment where learning, growth, and enjoyment of the game go hand in hand.
Today, Royal Guards continues to grow into the vision we set out to build: a family-centered program where student-athletes are not only trained in their basketball skills and character, but also truly seen, heard, and guided alongside their families. We are committed to building a community rooted in purpose, where every player and family who joins becomes part of something bigger — the Royal Guards family.
